road trip, raybans & wedding...

wah hei...i'm a happy happpy happpy bunnyyyyyy...

Saturday, i went for a road trip to KBtown with Zar, James & met up w/ Val & S for lunch @ the original rojak/cucur udang/icekacang place. where? here lah.

Well, this trip was arranged by J, and u cannot say NO to a free ride all the way to KBtown for lunch. Plus he won himself a treat from bidarlah as he correctly

guessed this place previously;

got to say, he also guessed quite a few correctly lah. Damn Well done yo!

I'm sure James will blog all about his dayout, as he did take quite a few pics. So i will leave tat to him.

but why am i happy?

post lunch, we went shopping...well...how shld i say it? walking around the 2 rows of shops. Yeah...more like it...tat's it. But hei, was it a fruitful walk, or IT IS!!!!

1. i bought my secret santa pressie for shhhhhh!!! phew! done...

2. i bought myself another sunnies. yes! another pair...after buying one pair in Japan & one in HK - which i looooved but this one is a MUST. Cos i hv been looking for it high and low.

Earlier in the year i fell in love with the rayban's Wayfarer, and bought the
1980's version in tortoise color but wat i really wanted was the black ones. But just no way to be found plus its in minted condition man...and at a bargain. Trust me! bargain...its a keeper and collector item (my first rayban) Not the re-released ones.

Then i saw the black original ones, on Saturday in one of the shops.

clue for me, its original/ vintage sunnies.

1. the shop sells sunglasses and watches ONLY.

2. the shop had been there for donkey years.

3. all the sunnies are OLD and there are no new stocks like ever since.

4. An Ah-Gong looked after the shop ever since.

5. U can bargain. However, do check the frames & lenses carefully.

In case u like me, wondering how come the black one got no rayban logo...did i got ripped off, silly fool?

hmm...i dun think so, cos it came with the black leather rayban wayfarer casing, and the 'glass' lens is engraved with the BL (like all orginals)and the inside side frame is engraved with B&L RAY-BAN U.S.A with the model code. hmm...so i tot wow...original la and did not realised the missing logo. hmm...until

so i googled as me no expert in raybans and found out it's actually the1960's RayBan wayfarer. 1960's original leh!!! (i emailed this store, and now await their confirmation if it's authentic), the frame is slightly smaller than the 1980's tortoise one. Nonetheless, for the time being, i say its VINTAGE man!!!! and that deserves a celebration. And let me tell you guys, Rayban collectors...it's heaven for you guys....i tell you. Unfortunately, i only want the wayfarer. so if you guys want aviators...check it out...all kinds and bargain man.

Today...

went to Rozie & Zadi's Bersanding (wedding)- i think this could well be my first Malay wedding i attended in my life. Ok...maybe when i was young, i may have but i dun recalled; so tat doesn't count right? ok ok...not true cos last week i went to another Malay wedding but not the traditional at home type cos it's at a hotel. Well...as long there are food, i'm happy. I wanted to take photos of the place, food, day and all but it's (quite) hot and the floor is (slightly) muddy. So did not, but got talking to Gman himself- he is like he claimed on his blog, he is a funny papa/guy, and yes...payperpost works. check it out.

Anyway...CONGRATS to both the pengantin.

over lunch today and we had a light but serious talk; well, when i say talk, i only listen lah. Our just turned 30 year old gal was ranting and when i say 'serious', it was more like her frustration & a bit pissed off.

i just can't help smirking cos the words used was ... tell me wat you think. (the topic of the discussion shall remained shhhh!!!) anyway, here was part of the conversation:

u say lah, blah di blah...under this circumstances (if pronounced wrongly or too quickly), sounded like circumcision.

yes, she was talking about her love frustrations and her bidarlahness on one whose name shall not be mention. (clue: some gal)

soto mee...

it's one of the best soto joint in brunei, so i heard. tucked away in a small and not so well ventilated shop house in gadong. Man! it's hot! - the temperature in the restaurant.

wat is in my beef soto ?
sliced beefs (actually just bits of cubed-beef), yellow noodle, bean sprouts. tat's all. (you can add chicken & egg). I was recommended & told always to add vinegar and more chillies for heat-and so i did. Mine-o-mine. thinking about it now, (post lunch) my mouth is still salivating-probably cos it's hot! (heat wise*haha)

the soup is beefy and peppery and yummmmy. if it's not for the venue, i would hv go there more often, why can't they fix an air-con, maybe 4 at least (as suggested by MV).

look, who i lunched with today...

I hv not seen her for a long looong time, and the last time she hopped back, she was so busy with her other acquaintances; long story short, we did not meet up. So this around, we decided to do lunch and let me tell you, LUNCH!!!! hmm... i suggested like 10 over places to eat and all she veto-ed all hor, and she asked me to name 3 more. (*hmm...)

finally running full circle, we resorted to kim huay. (4 seas)

L, hope you like the place lah, really dunno where else u know! haha!!! at least you haven't been there mah, rite! btw, how's the 'fried' kway teow? special leh...

and speaking of which, i was recommended the ice tea-C special. Bery NIce hor!!!

gula melaka, sago, ideal milk. served chilled!!! cos the damn place is so hot man!

mama day...

today is mama's day. yes! the day where all restaurants & establishments jacked up their prices to cash in. And mind u, trying to get a reservations last minute, dun even think about it.

So mama & I decided to 'pot luck' in my grandma's place. Everyone cooks 2 dishes to eat. Two of my aunties/uncles couldn't make it so more food for everyone. haha!!!

I decided to make bread & butter pudding. Cos mama been wanting to eat b&b pudding for a while and i tot, why not make one for her rather than buying cakes. I'm a virgin in making b&b; and how did it end up.
wat u do is prepare A, mix B, pour B into A and then add C. that's all. easy peasy really.

it was much more puffier when i took it out of the oven, but then it ooooo-ed down. but but

still yummy hahah!!! ooo i did a short cut, i bought low fat custard instead of making my own. still good. and yes, best eat with custard pouring over it.

post lunch & nesting away the calories, i decided to go for a hair cut as it's kinda out of shape and and and go to roll the dice again & claim my free cake. so 2 birds with one stone.

i kinda knew wat hair shape or look or wateva u call u it, while i browsed magazines few days ago. So i brought Bobo, my trusted hairstylist, to see the magazine, (* wat? do u expect me buy a magazine for the cover- i dun think so!) And tat's wat i did. Brought her away from the saloon and showed her the 'hair'.

St George's...

received a phone call from a long long long time, no-see-no-hear school friend of mine. He got my number (*guessing here-and i could be right) from Scarlot who had a mini reunion with all the St. George's friends the nite before she leave for UK.

It was kinda a mixed feeling to me, why? reminded me of the time in St George's and how time had passed, where we are now? wat have we achieved? (well all this had been in my mind everytime i passed by the school) And speaking of the school, how much had it changed? I so need to get out my old photo album to see if i still have any of the photos. Where are my school year book? it's time like this you wish u kept them safely and not the 'nah cant be bother' atitude.

Any St Georgean, if u have a spare school badge, can u please please sell me one? I want the ones that we used to pin on our shirt- the old metal one and the one with the plastic film/cover. Those were the classics, the real mc coy haha! If any one of you, please let me know. Dig ur cupboard.

Anyway, met my friend (WS) over lunch and talked about wat's everyone been up 2 and their whereabt and even toyed with idea of a reunion. I think A will be arranging one soon, when they can get hold of everyone. This so called a reunion blog to update the event.

Wat i found out? Most of them are married, some have kids; some of them residing in KK or KL, some run their own business (*need to get my head together now!!!). One of them divorced and caught his wife shagging a collegue in the car (wat the f*cked); one changed her name for a new start in a new country (*good luck).

The school itself had changed so much since our days. Fully air-conditioned to all classrooms, new multi purpose hall, canteen or tuckshop(this one i dunno-but looking from outside should be new), even the church had been refurbished and mind-o-mind- wat a shock! when i went it there the other day: a new baptism pool, a new mezzanine level, new side doors, fully airconditioned, new front entrance. wow!!!

I missed those wooden panel wall for the primary classes, which we climbed up & down, tried our best to peep through haha! and those are really good for natural ventilation. Wat have the kids today missed? or Lucky bunch with aircons. I dunno.
Did u guys know that the school have their own website. YES! they do. Check it out! They even have a live video cam so u can see wat's happening in the school. Never knew till today! Well done! Ok, I told a few of the ex-stgeorgeans, some of them hv a few comment abt this live web cam thing installed in a school compound.

The farewell dim sum lunch was a real treat for everyone. Somehow we ended up ordering loads of food, kinda like the pic i used for the previous posting. Goodness. Mountain high.

The 'surprise' lunch organised by moi turned out, well... a surprise for everyone. (*phew!) Cos a couple of them started speculating & guessing da bitch's actual arrival previously, but luckily they all stopped poking around for information.

Jollibert went to the wrong restaurant (in the name of god!) You guys been here before and i gave the same information ie. The halal one. Where you guys went? to the non-halal one. Goodness! wat? Ur 'new' car automatically wipe out all your memory?

Got to say, isn't it hot in the restaurant? wat's up with the bloody aircon? food is getting a bit downhill now. wassup with tat as well? I guessed food aint that important, rite guys! Surprised!!!
