the safari hunt...

woke up at 4:30am yes! AM hor not pm...on a sunday somemore. Good God! when was the last time anyone of you woke up that early? tell me.

Wat's worse? my left eye was in some discomfort and fuzzy-ish, of all days. damnit! woke up and start dripping antibiotics drops. neh, the one that i accidentally poked myself with my phone cover last time. And yes! i'm the designated driver opps! But all is well. Just a bit blurry.

Wat matter was the hunt? right?

I am not gonna go to details of the event/hunt cos

1. i'm tired
2. i betcha u guys are not that bothered.
3. u can read at some other blogs (i think)

just shorthand it for you guys...

left house at

5:15 AM arrived at ICC (still dark, i tell you)

my teammates (team 66)

and team 55 (let's just say our alliance)

yup! we were in our full gear.

then slowly more and more green tee-shirts walked towards to the venue.

6:30AM flag off for Leg 1 of the hunt

we had 3 challenges to do-

part 1 animal/hunter photo pose shoot

(i say safari-themed loh)

and thank god i had my safari bday last year- so i had all the stuffs for it. yeah!!!! so drove home- got locked out (no keys)- and then realised my 'catsuit' is in Z's place. arghh!

okok! dun panic...luckily we had animal printed leggings, scarfs and others...so we made do with what we had.

then highlight no. 1 of the day happened.

everyone panicked cos we thought we left the car keys IN the car, cos it's locked. arghh! luckily it was in the plastic bag. kerazzy i tell you. wat a close call.

yes me & Mag are background trees.

and one of the other challenges was picking up rubbish. Nin nia ah! On a sunday somemore to pick up rubbish. well have to do loh, quickly and headed back to ICC for leg 2.

before 9am: we headed off again, to solve 25 questions which brought us around Muara, Berakas, Bunut, Katok, Bersurat, and where else...i oso forgot...and in between got 2 challenges some more which involved climbing running up a safari trail. Of course Mama Mag, cannot play. Luckily we have 2 'kids' with us haha... let them run... run Hadi run...

I got to say, I need to get my lazy arse to the gym or some exercise man! limpeh was tired man! slightly out of breathe when running up the hill. o am i old? eff man.

anyway....all done and clocked in.

we were confident to be at least top 20, u know and did we?

why? cos we rocked the photo shoot (and so we thought!), we answered most questions correctly, we did all the challenges well...well enough.

Ooo...we were made to stay from 1 to almost 4pm in the ICC, post lunch. gawd!

look how tired we were...no joke! mama needs her nap and limpeh needs ----

we were already knackered and my left eyes were drying and the left eye blur vision was getting a bit worse. But we stayed! why?

NOT to hear the annoyingly loud music
NOT
to see the games they had planned
NOT to hear & see one of our local celebrity 'waassup wassup' and gave us 4 songs (if u incl his promo video) gosh!!!

we stayed cos well...we want to go up the stage to receive our TICKETS. haha! yes! though in slight pain, i tried to keep our confidence level up and so did Shirley. kept reminding ourselves: We are soo gonna win it!

then i received a call from Z saying J'Z won Tri-X...well done!

and did we?

ooo before i announce, Got to say: wat a team "giving ourselves a pat on the back",

so well done team 66: Me, Mag, Shirley n Hadi. (next year maybe?) haha...

ok ok! when they started announcing the top 40...we sooo did not want to be part of it haha...nah! prizes included vacuum, washing machines and wat's not which we do not want anyway...

then top 20...ok, me & shirley were ---- still got chance, afterall we did well and we wanted TICKETS and go up the stage..ooh btw those below top 10 don't even get up on the stage. boo!!!

ALL we wanted is UP THE STAGE! haha...yes, shirley even practiced her walk & wave. no joke.

so come top 10... eeerrrr...where the eff is team 66?

then top5 - the tickets. the flight the holiday..we wanted...fingercrossing...

top 3...still NO team 66. woot?

top 2...still NO... then we knew it...wat went wrong?

damn damn...not even for best photo shoot...halo?

but at least they showed them on the screen.

then they started the 10 lucky draws. So we stayed a little bit longer...com'on we waited for almost 4 freaking hours.

Just before the last item, we decided to move ourselves towards the doors to avoid the big rush of crowd leaving the venue. Hadi even left to the toilet/nicotine fix.

highlight no 2 happened...are u ready?

the MC announced, "the winner is a famous route in the Mid West of USA".

we were like: NOOOO!!! its US!!! its US!! OMG!!! haha..

its route 66 lah...hahaha...

and those 2 gals asked me to go ON STAGE to collect the 20 inch LCD flat screen TV. So save to say...Team 66 did go on stage, but me on their behalf. haha!

can u believe it? it's really scrapping the barrel man! the last one! haha! well...at least WE WON something. good time!!!!

drove back, showered and zzz from around 8pm to the next morning. DAMN TIRED!!! but it was fun!

Now we have a TV for sale. Any takers? no joke. we want the monehhhhh...

SO FOR SALE

for B$500 it could be yours. Its a bargain. retailing at B$600 or above. dun believe, go check yourself. interested let me know. Flat screen leh...

UPDATE: 0907 TV IS SOLD! ;)

disclaimer: i know bidarlah contains loads of typos & grammar errors as well, so dun come saying like i'm mr smartarse ok!

BiG (small) prizes...

last week i got a text from BiGwan himself, asking if i'm free on (last) saturday as they will be a prize presentation for the photo competition?

I replied asking, Why? am i in the running? Will there be a prize of me or just a shout out saying i joined or worse, make up the numbers for the day?

I was hinted, "of course got prize lah"

So after giving much thoughts, whether to just send him a taping of my winning speech, or send my PA to accept on my behalf, or simply decline with a basket of fruits, i decided nah!...why not? how often do i get an award, huh and maybe end up in the paper.

So took an hour off work on saturday to attend the prize giving ceremony in tourism board. It was a very informal set up.

Actually it's in their board room.

Actually, they did not even do any banner or set up or jazzed up the place. there are even missing ceiling tiles? (i got pics but in my other camera)

Actually most of the staffs were not even dressed or bother to look smart as they were all (most) in their exercise gear cos every saturdays = exercise days.

Like i said, informal loh. But but but like all ceremonies, the food were aplenty lah.

I was introduced to the BiG team, and saw the other winners seated with whoever they came with and i was there all by myself. where are my supporters? huh... where? i did ask a few of the bidarlahs, they said they rather zzz. hmm...

So once the Acting Director from Tourism Department entered the room, a quick intro was given and my name was called. I won a merit prize for my submission. ok ok! i compared mine to the others, mine look amateur-ish ok...i admit. But I got say THANK YOU to BiG for choosing mine out of all the hundreds, thousands submissions u received. click here for the other winners.

What did i get?

hei, only merit award lah...so i got this:

a goodie paper bag containing

a cap, a dvd somemore about brunei i think,

a card holder- useful

and a meal voucher for 2.

and and my winning picture will be in the coming issue. wahsei. :)

and and and ooo...i'm in the paper...seee see...haha! thanks Z for the cutout via text.

HAVE A NICE WEEKEND!!! and hope espeed is fixed.

fly no more...

gosh! i heard and was told, just when i am planning my summer holiday. damn...

Over the past weeks and weekends, i was told but those people who heard them said, they weren't sure; so i picked up my E90 and dialed instead of hearing all the hmm...not sure but i heard.

It's confirmed!!! RBA is terminating her

1. Shanghai flight as of 31st April

2. Sydney flight as of 1st June

and even 3. Denpasar (Bali) flight as of 2nd June.

OMG. What are they doing?

So i ask the sales rep...

Me: What if i already book the tickets for July or August?

Gal: hmm...wait huh.. (wait)

Gal: not sure, u can check with yr agent.

Me: Are u re-routing us or refund us leh?

Gal: hmm...wait huh...(away she go)

Gal: We don't know yet.

WAT? u mean dun know. I also too lazy to press on since she is not informed or briefed by those who knows.

Me: Why are u guys cancelling them?

Gal: hmm...wait huh...(so wait loh)

then a guy came on...

Me: why are u guys cancelling so many flights?

Gal: To improve other flights and regional ones...

wateva ya...

Hmm...how many left now ya? 8 flights a week to lioncity is not enuf ka? how many ppl go to KK? i dunno lah.

Me: hmm...Bali (Denpasar) not regional meh?

Guy: No.
me thinking...hmm??? then where is regional????

Me: Anymore other flights u guys will be cancelling besides the 3?

R: hmm...We were only told these 3.

well...i guess RBA are doing her best to improve her service but please inform your representatives on the arrangements or how to deal with callers like me. hehe!

Dixy Chicks...

remember me throwing balls and won myself a meal voucher, actually i won 2 muahahaha! E won 1 too.

so me, Z and E went to redeem our free meal before it got expired, as that's the one we chosen that day. It was either this or the American "i'm loving it" or the filipino's version.

I picked D.C simply because

1. i have never dine in D Chickies before since it opened. dun ask me why?

2. the word "super" is part of the meal haha...

3. i was put on the spot to choose one. so chin chai lah.

well how was it?

1. fast? wat is fast about it? i dunno man! It was slow like krazzzy, yet we were like the only customers (ok! there was one more but they were munching their food already- and in the midst of touching here and there) yes!!! the lovebirds are so so so in love or cannot 'stand' anymore i tell you. i think the only thing standing is hmm...u know who's anatomy lah, so if they are in a room, i tell you...sure eff one.

2. the waitress so no standard or so not professional one.

Can u imagine this? Actually dun imagine, i tell you what we saw.

Because the shop is so damn quiet ie. no customer, what can they do leh?

well, this is what one of the waitress do in front of customers (whether paying or like us...there to claim our free meal)

Next to the counter was the wash hand basin, and above it is a mirror - standard lah. yup! This waitress was so disgustingly tried to give her nostrils are thorough cleaning.

No joke! niamah...she is so gross. There and then she decided to pluck her nose hair or dig her nose OPENLY. (pic)

She DID NOT do it discretely either. Placed her body close to the sink, face near the mirror, fingers up her nose. eww!!! Not for a second, but till she get the junk out.

U may think after this, she will hide or something, nabu lah, she decided to floss. yes! she did! (pci)

Floss as in floss her teeth. I know flossing is good hygiene for everyone, but right smacked banged on in the middle of the restaurant. Is she a doing a demo ka?

Worse, i think she seemed to be enjoying the moment. Goodness! I'm not exaggerating hor, i got 2 other witnesses. wah lau, wat kind of fast food place?

maybe she wants to be 'clean' waitress. hei...first impressions count right!

3. now for the food. yup! when u hear the word 'super combo' you would think this:

ok, not as much but... (pic)

what we were given,
for the love of chicken!

goodness, if i'm paying for this i will not be a happy customer. seriously.

2 small wings and you call this super combo. I cannot imagine what's their normal meal. These chicken must be underfed or come from some serious ill treated farm or worse, their cast off from their SUPER SUPER SUPER meal.

why i would not go to eat in this place? simply becos...

i heard...3

i was told by J whose new blog is ready for viewing, click here. Anyway, this morning J told me one of our mobile service provider, let's call them B, launched their new promo for their new 3.6mbps broadband service compare to our espeed of 128 or 512kpbs. On top of that, you get FREE lappie, FREE modem.

Bargain or no bargain, you guys do the maths. U either pay 1700 upfront for 3 years subscription compared to $98 per month on the espeed. If you haven't got the cash to pay upfront, no worries cos installment plan is there for you: $45 for 4 years.

J, u decide lah.

so now, i heard...dun say i say hor...i heard apparently our other service provider, let call them hmm...D lah. Apparently, D are in the midst of preparation to launch such broadband service too but just like on the mahjong table, B wu le, before D even get to call a pong. So now i heard...D will be coming up with their plans. So wait for the next round. shh!!!

Baby Aah...

This is a baby related post.

I realised i hv not post any pics of babies or kids for a very loooong time, ever since baby Natalie flew to UK. Speaking of which, how's papa & mama doing in UK? Hope you guys are well yo!

like i said, this will be all about baby. All about Baby Aah...

I got invited to my first hmm...'show off my baby' / 'i'm a mama/papa' event last week. Like all such events; tents were up, tables were laid with vinyl, tray of food and non-alcoholic drinks were served. I'm not gonna elaborate on the 'event'/ceremony itself, cos i dun really know. All i know is I'm invited by the proud parents (or am i? hehe!) to attend their Majlis Berdikir & Mandi Berlawat of Baby A.A.H, so i go loh.

Like Z said, it's like baby Aah's debutante, yup! we all watched gossip gals hehe! So it's baby Aah's big day, it's all about him. Only thing is when he made his appearance ala on his papa G's arms, he was zzz. where's mama? i saw her parading around too with and without her veil, sweating yet her makeup still stay put. steady hmm...;)

wat? how dare he sleep on me? i'm here to see a baby, and i'm gonna see one. ok!

well, actually i was waiting for food as well lah. shh!!! Food was nice. I realised most of the guests only took one helping. huh? I was like: wat? It's a buffet!!! and I wanted more of the desserts. I'm a real sucker for desserts - be it cake, be it kueh, as long as they are yummy. Plus it's not right to waste good food, right!

yes! G-man, where's the durian? hmm...hehe!

So post stuffing my face with all the kuehs, we went in the house to see the baby.

no no...i did not eat all ok, and i did not use all the plates ok.

see, see...cute init! If you ask me, who he looks like? i can safely tell you this: His parents lah.

Cos i can hardly tell, if a baby has who's eyes or who's nose? babies are babies, no? Wait till they reach one or 2 or maybe 10 years...then i tell you ok.

to papa G & mama S, Congratulations!!!

ps. this is for his papa...(spotted this while bloghopping)

where to get? click here. if u ordering, grab me one lah, not necessary the same...surprise me! haha!!!

Just when i thought where else can we enjoy a nice cuppa or 2. Or as E said, where we can 'wash our eyes'? (pic)

So Scarlet will be having more competitors loh.

2. the 4000 a day donut shop is opening a new branch. where? again in Qlap area. The shop is fitted if you drive past the new hotel there. gosh! 4000: tat's like more than $4000 cash each day. kaching! and i heard...Jw are looving them.

psst: just found out they copy and paste their 'statement' straight off JCoDonuts. yup! a hole is just a hole. someone pls confirm? (pic)

update: omg! just went to Jco site, their box is uncanny similar from the color to logo.

3. This is a plug for Scarlet. Her papa just opened 2 new zone: one kopizone in the icentre and one makanzone in qlap.

4. You know how Rose in the Titanic dropped (opps) her diamond ruby necklace into the ocean in the Titanic. (pic)

Well, our Jw pulled a Rose. However she did not dropped her diamond neckpiece as such. But she did indeed drop her mobile phone into the sea last weekend during her company outing. Damn, i missed such a scene.

National Day...

tomorrow is a public holiday yahooooo!!!! it's our National Day ...no no...not the aircon lah...

it's our country very own Hari Kebangsaan ie. National Day. 24th oledi...wow! and this year theme is "Tunas Bangsa". visit the site for more info.

Tunas means loyalty to the nation. The theme symbolises loyalty to the nation based on two foundations which are "Tanah Yang Subur" symbolising "Independence, Democratic and Sovereign" according to the teachings of Islam according to Ahli Sunnah Waljamaah and "Benih Yang Baik" symbolising a nation of Malay Muslim Monarchy. (source: brudirect)

MERDEKA! MERDEKA! MERDEKA!!!!

So like last year and the year before and the year before the year before... our town/capital has been plastered all over with the portraits of our king in his military gear: side of road, lampposts, banners, billboards, and even facade of building (full facade in some cases)...i guess the bigger the better...of course with their company logos...

Some of the students and civil servants will be in town parading tomorrow, putting on the best show they can for the King and his entourage and ooo...E will be flagging too...so keep an eye out for our E.

While the whole country is enjoying the loong weekend, some of us will be celebrating Oqui bday in an undisclosed venue...shhh!!!

So have a niiiiiceee loooonggg weeeeeeekend everyone!!!

Uncylopedia on Brunei...

Bloghopped around and read some funny made-up or factual articles about singapore and malaysia from this uncylopedia.org site.
Warning: Read them with a pinch or spoonful of salt, and i'm sure you can relate to some silly points. (pic)

So i search Brunei on their database and mine mine...they have already updated quite a lot of information- some are nonsense, some are seriously funny. I'm sure some ehem...will find it not funny, but do take it with a pinch of salt like i say...but some i'm sure u will say spot on. click here if you wanna read more...

otherwise...continue reading here as i highlighted some of the funny bits from the site.

on place of interest:

  • The Mall - A populated heaven for emo & scene kids to gather socially to meet with losers.
  • Kampung Ayer - Don't believe what they tell you in the brochures. This place is a garbage-infested drug-dealers' heaven.
  • Sungai Akar- Where garbages are accumulated, a place that is a billion times grosser than 2 girls 1 cup.
  • Yayasan Shopping Complex - Indon headquarters which is supposed to be a better place than the Mall.
  • Brunei Stadium - Racetrack for heavily modified Toyota Kijangs, Echos and horse carriages.
  • Seru-dong Park - Ghost-town entertainment theme park for the whole family! (B: true)
  • UBD Where your pop met your mom and banged her, 9 months later or less (depends), you pop out.
  • Miri - OH! wait! It's not a part of Brunei but it is a place for Bruneians (Mostly KBians) donating their money while Brunei is in the process of oil and gas lacking.
  • The Empire - 5 star hotel located near a beach. they usually are famous for cooking the worlds most famous overcooked pastas and lasagna.
note to BiG mag, you might want to update your descriptions on the above sites hahaha!

on teenagers

A secret conspiracy is going on as more and more male teenagers in the country appear to have a suspiciously similar looking hair fashion after visiting a $10 (student price) or $12 (Gullible student's price) hair-cut salon.
It was believed that Japanese aliens had disguise themselves in a regular form of flamboyant male Filipino hairdressers working in the salon trying to invade Brunei by giving the male teenagers a JAP-style hair cut, (pic) leveling up their self-esteem simultaneously brainwashing them to know only vanity and become worthless to their parents and turn them into a being known as zombified-trash society. (B: true- and how much products do they need on their head, seriously)

Brunei teenagers is that they have the tendency to do nothing except spend time on their Friendster and now Facebook! (pic) putting down ambiguous and pointless descriptions of themselves, Photo-shopping themselves to make themselves look bangable. (B: haha!- faceboook only...upload hor..the pictures, poke poke, send useless applications, and being ka por-but i guess not only brunei teens lah...)

They also update their blog daily, writing about what they did like going to so-called fancy restaurants like Excapade and Dome, plus they bizarrely take pictures of what they had ordered at the restaurant. Wait, I've came across a blog in which someone was showing off some ordinary chocs her daddy bought from a European country, oowww poor kid. (B: yes...there are tons of such blogs around...yawn!!! one word: if you got nothing to blog, dun post lah...)

on media

The media in Brunei consists of tabloids, newspapers, television and radio. If they don't provide television, they will turn to the Borneo Bulletin which houses the most crackpot writers in the world, mainly Ignatius Stephen. His ways of writings can shame even your writing! The newspaper also consist of an opinion section where Bruneians are given the freedom to write in and Bitch around. Unfortunately the letters make no grammatical sense whatsoever which results in them becoming completely ignored as no one can understand them, one of the better known writers is Seymour Jugs. The people of Brunei thinks he just might be the next Agatha Christie; critics say he is unbearable compared to J.K. Rowling. (B: well... remember architecture miscarriage anyone?)

in general
  • In Brunei, it is required by law that people should never walk more than 100 meters to their desired destination within the country. A journey of more than 100m should be used either by a small dorky ‘look-at-me-i-look-like-an-idiot-but-im-so-cool’ mini motorcycle or a big bulky ‘i-have-an-expensive-car-but-im-in-debt’ SUV vehicle. (B: true-...haha!!!)
  • By law, if there is a road accident in Brunei which rarely happens, other drivers are required to slow down their cars to look curiously and criticize the accident. If possible, taking pictures of the road accident is greatly encouraged. (B: so true)

  • In Brunei the meaning for "bank loan" is synonymous for "let's buy another car although we already have seven at home". (B: and so i heard)
check out the site cause they have a list of notable Bruneians....funny. again, the site does not contain the real info on any of the cities they described, just for laughs ok...

Happy reading and have a GREAT WEEKEND... eat more, win more...still CNY wah...

Mahjong Anonymous...

Last night dinner for doc's 30 something was a blast: food was yummy and chammmpagne for everyone!!!

So what do people like me do on a public holiday?

For some (i heard) had serious hangover due to last night intimate dinner, shhh!!!-more about that when i get round filtering the pictures.

Well...for some of us, we met up for lunch and wat else? Mahjong lah...
Ever since J bought himself the mahjong table last week or the week before, taught him how to play; his hands had been itchy. So today a few of us met up at his flat for a 'few' rounds from 2 ish to 9 ish hahaha!!!! Practice for the CNY bah...as Z and J claimed. So Scarlet & Down Under, when you guys come back, we got new kaki/legs (players) ya! No excuses!!!

I know Scarlet will not decline a MJ session. hehe!!! rite?

all the cling cling cling of the tiles, all the swearing and shouting: pong-ing, kong-ing, kang-ing, and kau-ing round the table and all the goss stories we laughed at are all part of the game.

ok time to go lie down, turn on my hardrod and watch Project Runway 4. till then...

Road Trip 08...

everyone knows i dun wake up early on a sunday; 8am to be exact. gila ya!!!! sunday suppose to be a lazy day! i dun care wat others say; to me...it's best to just lay in bed and do nothing- ok ok!, not nothing lah; turn on astro or hardrod and catch up on all the series.

however if i do get up that early, it can only be either:

1. i'm on holiday,
2. relatives or close friends' weddings, or
3. road trip.

yes! ROAD TRIP! my first road trip of 2008!...wat a sunday! or in Jo(e)'s case...'fruitful' event.

where did we go? only across the border via 2 toll-booths & a loooong bridge. The last time i went there was hmm...when huh? to be honest! limpeh also forget oledi! it must be tat looong.

wat did we do?

set off at 08:45 from my house in the green pajero.
