cempedak

this is another favourite fruit of mine, after the durian of course.

cempedak is not to be mistaken with jackfruit.also not to be mistaken as ji-la-kak or celakak. ;)

cempedak's flesh is stickier, sweetier, less meaty and more yummier than the jackfruit. ooo thinking about it, already makes me salivate. ooo did i say, the smell ooooh... ok ok! not as strong as the king of fruit but cempedak too has her own distinctive smell and i too love it.

the moment you bring the baby back to the house from the market, you can smell it.

like durian, u can consume them at room temperature ie. while taking the pulp out from the soft oily/sticky shell
or,

chilled them in a box (warning: do make sure lid is closed tight in the fridge), then eat them. hmm....
unlike the durian (though i got to say, i never tried it with the durian-so who knows), cempedak is also best eaten fried. yes! fried cempedak. OMG! i think my saliva just dripped. *slurp*

tadah...mama's fried cempedak.

it is extremely hardcore stuff, cos once u start- u cannot stop, for people like me...

nah nah...seee...

the smell aroma, the crispiness of the batter versus the softness/sweetness of the flesh. OMG!...
and it's also extremely heaty- so drink loads of water/fluid after cos you dun want your nose to bleed. hehe! cue music...keep bleeding, keep bleeding...

HAVE A NICE WEEKEND! xoxo

ben & jerry & elton...

yup! B&J does E, and comes in limited tubs.

wat is it? Ben & Jerry does Elton John. So cannot believe the 2 or 3 names can end up in one sentence.

yup! Elton John got BJ-ed.
guess some of you had read, Ben & Jerry is honoring EJ with a limited-batch icecream flavour called - "Goodbye Yellow Brickle Road" for his first-ever Vermont performance.

wat's in it you asked?

"an outrageous symphony of decadent chocolate ice cream, peanut butter cookie dough, butter brickle and white chocolate chunks"

so if u want a taste of EJ, u know where to get some? so are u ready, are u ready?

(source)

ps. when u guys doing bidarlah? hmm...want flavour would i be/want?

chai latte...

Every now and then, i hear people/friends wanting a chai latte here & there - even on facebook. u know on their status.

to me, chai simply means tea in Hindi and latte is basically Milk in Italian.

Trying to make our classic drink sound posh..."ooo darling, can i have a chai latte?" and then pay around 3 or 4 bucks for a cup.

please lah.

for me...nothing beats the classic TEH C.

Teh is tea in malay or chinese and the 'C' is milk lah in...hmm...coffee shop/kopitiam terms, i think and best of all, i only pay 60 to 80 cents for a cuppa. Nice...

breathe...

this somehow became a looong post.

finally i can breathe-ish.

so busy at work and at home.

so many stuffs i wanna say and blog but forgot what already.

so many things i wanna do but did not get round doing so.

so many designs i wanna explore but ended up on the drawing board.

so many movies i wanna see but did not.

work had been kerazzzy last week: deadlines, phone calls, confirmations, meetings, more changes, more adhoc meetings, more impromptu decisions to be made, thus no time to update. Not to say i have loads of readers like other bloggers. Like soon said,"Nothing wrong to hope!" Right?

enuf of rantings about work cos i know some of you guys & dolls will just scroll down to see pictures with your fingers. i know!

been shifting & moving stuffs around my home, mostly after work and over the weekend, so i'm a dead-fish by the end of it. Where got time and energy to blah di blah?

I tried to vent or talk on the phone with Z but be like...hmm hmm...bah...i watch tv first or you talk lah. Plus rather go out with colleagues and watch movies with them. Fine...Sometimes i do wonder.

I tried to watch tv but nothing much on, cos i watched most of the chinese series already-well, the nice ones lah, the bida one...i dun watch ok.

just finished watching 'The Silver Chambers of Sorrow'. (pic)

This is one of the series where you watched and felt like slapping a few of the characters. I no joke!. The bitches really deserved them- their words & doings are so petty and all for oneself. Jw would agree.

I tried to go out too but dunno where, what, who? There is so much coffee one can drinks. Am i such a boring person? maybe i am.

Last night being a (trying to be) good son brought my papa out for a meal at She-ra's in town to celebrate what else? papa's day loh. The place was packed and thank God i booked in advance.

Saw a couple of familiar faces-you know those u nod ur head and smile acquaintances, and those hi-how are u-never contact friends. Even managed to chat with one of my childhood BFF whom we lost contact with but saw each other across the room and too shy to speak.

Found out his newborn's name. (cp: you know who i'm talking about- the one u wanted to bring me to visit but did not get round doing so)

ooo, even saw a blogger with his family. clue: one of the berrys.

How was the food?

one word: NOT WORTH IT. (ok! it's 3 words) cos i wanted to say crap but its not true cos it's still edible and i did enjoy some of the food.

So did not even bother to take picture tho it did cross my mind and showing how bad the food were. so if the Check Email Only or PR of the hotel/restaurant read this: Wat the eff you guys did to the mains?

the starters was quite a spread and i think tat was the only good 'spread' for the night.

the mains was disgraceful. It's international buffet and they have like only 6 dishes: fried rice, fried kway teow, fried prawn, mixed veggies, cauliflower and slices of beef (which i must say, Doc's homecooked ones are muchhhh better). ooo dun forget the roast lamb. (yeah! like it's all that, cos it's not!) tell me how international?

if i want fried kway teow, i know where to eat? if i want fried rice, my mama cooks better. And to make it worse, they both tasted below average and cold. Such a BIG disappointment. So wat everyone did? Queued up for the pasta; as it was cooked to your preference and served hot.

As for desserts, ok! i got to admit, they did have quite a selection. Only thing is their famous chocolate mousse cake failed to impress anyone, even for me. Why? It's bloody soft. When u lift it up and drop it to your plate, it ends up mushy. To make matter worse, the whole cake on the tray...after an hour, look like shit cos it fell flat. Such a biiig let down.

ooo...my bros & papa tried their teppanyaki icecream and the queue was loooong. wat's the hoohah abt it?

basically u get to pick your toppings and choice of icecream, then mr. icecream man will mix them like rojak for you. that's all. i tot wat? eh...and it's too sweet for my liking.

anyway...enuf of that.

As i was home for most of the weekend, i watched the pianist! yes! not the penis, the Pianist. the one which won 3 oscars incl best actor and it was recommended by Z. warning: over 2 hours long but good.

talk about survival? my God! How can one survive in such a racist environment, let alone survive through the war? I must say, the story is really good and u feel for the people. (pci)

However, the actor reminded me of a squashed up Ross Gellar, but his acting is good. So deserved the bold man statue. Its a powerful and sad movie to say the least, so check it out. ooo...its a real story too.
praise to all the actors in the movie and the director. (pci)
the real Szpilman...(pci)

ooo...i finally received my tees i got my dearest Sherry to get for moi in the US of A. Thank You SOOOO much. I will post that later and can't wait to wear them out, cos i & Z could well be the only ones who got them here muahahaha! jealous...and once again, thank you for getting them for us and dun tell me how much.

ps. GOTW will be back (finger-crossing) this Thursday as 'usual'.

pps. Z said Maid of Honour is so-so only. I want to watch Hulk-dun ask me why? i did not even watch the previous Eric Bana's version.

ooo yes! i finally had my hair cut. This new hairstylist can really talk give you ideas on your hairstyle. I think we 'chatted' for like a good 20 mins before decided which direction to go: A. a nice neat trim but with an 'edgy' touch yet easy to maintain or B. short fringe, closely cut sides or something to frame my face and side, with some length at the back. Not a mullet! in case you starts to begin. I can't even begin to visualise.

Though i was tempted for the latter but i just couldnt. why? i paiseh lah, and later go meeting with that hair. hehe! if i'm a student and maybe a bit braver, i might. No confident bah.

Though i said i chose A, she cut for almost an hour and abit more. she really took her time (i'm not complaining cos she did a great job) I tell you, if i dozed off-sure wake up with something else. haha...with a fringe.

We chatted on quite a bit: hair related, food related, travel related, family related, durians related, work related. It's nice to be able to chat and feel comfortable with your hairstylist. Dun get me wrong, she is not the talkactive type...u know the one that on and on and on. There is a fine line between friendly and in your face kapoh. Or worse, i've been to a few who were like spoken only like 3 or 4 lines.

ppps. get well soon Jw.

food and more food...

this is gonna be food related post and only for locals...boo hoo!!!

mine o mine...there's so much happening locally i say. Not that i will go to everyone or try them out myself.

1. A Qlap restaurant is giving 30% off if you dine there and happened to be raining outside. Not applicable for b-mob customer unfortunately.

2. The hotel in the mall restaurant will be having Nasi Kandar buffet this weekend till next week except this saturday. Just hope it not soooo packed like the last time we ate there. yes! until tables were set up in the lobby & first floor. hei, how else the owner can afford to build hmm... $9 million residential for themselves. shh!!! i heard.

3. Gordon he is not, not even close to be gary. I think closest as a celebrity chef is Ainsley. who? the out-there malaysian celebrity chef is coming to our shore for a live cooking show in August. So not only get to see him up close, u get to taste his food too. Interested? go book ur seats now.

4. Ever try teppanyaki ice cream. wanna? grab ur own cone @ "contemporary-styled restaurant" in town. aiyah, if u dunno where? visit bigmag for more info.

5. Back by popular demand: Creamayo Cheesy Bites. cheeeesy!!!

so plan ur weekend? i know i'll be busy but to none of the above or what the others will be doing?

Dixy Chicks...

remember me throwing balls and won myself a meal voucher, actually i won 2 muahahaha! E won 1 too.

so me, Z and E went to redeem our free meal before it got expired, as that's the one we chosen that day. It was either this or the American "i'm loving it" or the filipino's version.

I picked D.C simply because

1. i have never dine in D Chickies before since it opened. dun ask me why?

2. the word "super" is part of the meal haha...

3. i was put on the spot to choose one. so chin chai lah.

well how was it?

1. fast? wat is fast about it? i dunno man! It was slow like krazzzy, yet we were like the only customers (ok! there was one more but they were munching their food already- and in the midst of touching here and there) yes!!! the lovebirds are so so so in love or cannot 'stand' anymore i tell you. i think the only thing standing is hmm...u know who's anatomy lah, so if they are in a room, i tell you...sure eff one.

2. the waitress so no standard or so not professional one.

Can u imagine this? Actually dun imagine, i tell you what we saw.

Because the shop is so damn quiet ie. no customer, what can they do leh?

well, this is what one of the waitress do in front of customers (whether paying or like us...there to claim our free meal)

Next to the counter was the wash hand basin, and above it is a mirror - standard lah. yup! This waitress was so disgustingly tried to give her nostrils are thorough cleaning.

No joke! niamah...she is so gross. There and then she decided to pluck her nose hair or dig her nose OPENLY. (pic)

She DID NOT do it discretely either. Placed her body close to the sink, face near the mirror, fingers up her nose. eww!!! Not for a second, but till she get the junk out.

U may think after this, she will hide or something, nabu lah, she decided to floss. yes! she did! (pci)

Floss as in floss her teeth. I know flossing is good hygiene for everyone, but right smacked banged on in the middle of the restaurant. Is she a doing a demo ka?

Worse, i think she seemed to be enjoying the moment. Goodness! I'm not exaggerating hor, i got 2 other witnesses. wah lau, wat kind of fast food place?

maybe she wants to be 'clean' waitress. hei...first impressions count right!

3. now for the food. yup! when u hear the word 'super combo' you would think this:

ok, not as much but... (pic)

what we were given,
for the love of chicken!

goodness, if i'm paying for this i will not be a happy customer. seriously.

2 small wings and you call this super combo. I cannot imagine what's their normal meal. These chicken must be underfed or come from some serious ill treated farm or worse, their cast off from their SUPER SUPER SUPER meal.

why i would not go to eat in this place? simply becos...

Baby Aah...

This is a baby related post.

I realised i hv not post any pics of babies or kids for a very loooong time, ever since baby Natalie flew to UK. Speaking of which, how's papa & mama doing in UK? Hope you guys are well yo!

like i said, this will be all about baby. All about Baby Aah...

I got invited to my first hmm...'show off my baby' / 'i'm a mama/papa' event last week. Like all such events; tents were up, tables were laid with vinyl, tray of food and non-alcoholic drinks were served. I'm not gonna elaborate on the 'event'/ceremony itself, cos i dun really know. All i know is I'm invited by the proud parents (or am i? hehe!) to attend their Majlis Berdikir & Mandi Berlawat of Baby A.A.H, so i go loh.

Like Z said, it's like baby Aah's debutante, yup! we all watched gossip gals hehe! So it's baby Aah's big day, it's all about him. Only thing is when he made his appearance ala on his papa G's arms, he was zzz. where's mama? i saw her parading around too with and without her veil, sweating yet her makeup still stay put. steady hmm...;)

wat? how dare he sleep on me? i'm here to see a baby, and i'm gonna see one. ok!

well, actually i was waiting for food as well lah. shh!!! Food was nice. I realised most of the guests only took one helping. huh? I was like: wat? It's a buffet!!! and I wanted more of the desserts. I'm a real sucker for desserts - be it cake, be it kueh, as long as they are yummy. Plus it's not right to waste good food, right!

yes! G-man, where's the durian? hmm...hehe!

So post stuffing my face with all the kuehs, we went in the house to see the baby.

no no...i did not eat all ok, and i did not use all the plates ok.

see, see...cute init! If you ask me, who he looks like? i can safely tell you this: His parents lah.

Cos i can hardly tell, if a baby has who's eyes or who's nose? babies are babies, no? Wait till they reach one or 2 or maybe 10 years...then i tell you ok.

to papa G & mama S, Congratulations!!!

ps. this is for his papa...(spotted this while bloghopping)

where to get? click here. if u ordering, grab me one lah, not necessary the same...surprise me! haha!!!

i heard...

1. Two new coffee shops are opening soon in Qlap area. yup! TWO more.

Just when i thought where else can we enjoy a nice cuppa or 2. Or as E said, where we can 'wash our eyes'? (pic)

So Scarlet will be having more competitors loh.

2. the 4000 a day donut shop is opening a new branch. where? again in Qlap area. The shop is fitted if you drive past the new hotel there. gosh! 4000: tat's like more than $4000 cash each day. kaching! and i heard...Jw are looving them.

psst: just found out they copy and paste their 'statement' straight off JCoDonuts. yup! a hole is just a hole. someone pls confirm? (pic)

update: omg! just went to Jco site, their box is uncanny similar from the color to logo.

3. This is a plug for Scarlet. Her papa just opened 2 new zone: one kopizone in the icentre and one makanzone in qlap.

4. You know how Rose in the Titanic dropped (opps) her diamond ruby necklace into the ocean in the Titanic. (pic)

Well, our Jw pulled a Rose. However she did not dropped her diamond neckpiece as such. But she did indeed drop her mobile phone into the sea last weekend during her company outing. Damn, i missed such a scene.

A Vintage Rose Moment...

How's everyone feeling? How's ya weekend?

if i dun post this now, i dun know when, cos i'm swamped with work in the office. Madness! So much till i need an extra pair of hands, actually make it 2 more. Changes upon changes. Well, i don't blame the client as they just got thrown into the deep end too and without revealing too much and boring you...they are our client no 2, cos client no 1 left. So now, they want to change here and there. Fair enuf. So now it's all up to me, to revise and me being me, i tend to complicate things. arghhh.... So i change and change and change.

enuf of me...

now about wat we did last saturday night?

we went to celebrate our hallo kitty lover, Mag's belated 30. yes! welcome to our box! haha! embrace it with a smile!

got a text from her one week earlier about her do and we started scratching our balls head, Wat to get for her? I cant just buy her 2 boxes of agar-agar mix, or can I?

So we went to her favorite shop in town to get her a dress. hope u like it yo! Remember if it doesn't fit or if u dun like, can exchange, no problem. U are a VIP member so it's ok, as the saleslady said. (btw, her name is Rain-i'm not kidding)

well well well...enuf of me blah-blah...pics right!

here...

food was nice and we had aplenty...however the lamb chop w/ pepper sauce is chewy and fatty. so mr chef, try again...

look at the cake!!!
it's yummy! and yes! i think i ate too much. no joke!!!

pressie no 1.

pressie no 2.

thanks Mag for the nice meal...

post dinner, went back to my crib for some real mahjong, unfortunately i did not play because not enough kaki (legs) for 2 tables. So 4 of them played, 2 of them zzz, while 2 of us ...hmm...played wahjong...sad huh! hahaha...

spoiler alert for Project Runway 4. Do not continue if you dun wanna know....

We also watched PR 4 finale. OMG! All 3 finalists' works are fantastic, i must say. ok, one of them are not cohesive but still look good individually, while the runner up who could well be the winner too, if not for the guest judge - i think! Of course it's major fierce!!! congrats Christian.

What I did that night?

yes...to those who left messages asking what i will be doing on 2702?

well...as i posted previously, i celebrated my bday on Vday this year. But that does not mean no one else gonna celebrate with me on the very day.

I got some of the rich and famous people in this country to dine & party (using the word party loosely lah) with. No joke. And even got a Singaporean celebrity to host the night for me leh...Dun believe me...

ok ok...i dun have pictures to prove that i know ALLLL the people on that night - really people mountain people sea ya!. I only know a few familiar faces. spotted: ex-classmates, suppliers, consultants, hi-bye friends, cousins. Yes...all these people were there to celebrate my bday but the only thing is that they dont know about it. haha

fine fine...it was the world's local bank chinese new year dinner lah,

and also my annual trip to the ICC (what else to see or do there?)

So like last year, we head there and again we were late. Gosh! by the time we got there, the room was packed and most of the tables were seated. *arghhhh... of course, we being the 'cultured' ones, the 'got good manners' ones, the 'got class' ones dun go scolding or demanding to be seated straight away.

What happened? We got ushered from bank to front, left to right, back to left again, then finally found 3 seats for us. where?

here...
in the vegetarian table of all places...wat to do? better than standing right.

I tell you, no offense to all vegetarians out there...how the hell you guys eat 'mock' or fake or 'pretend to be' dishes? Maybe it was not well-prepared by the caterers lah. We had FAKE prawns, FAKE chicken, and the worse of the bunch: FAKE fish *yucks yuck*

Like past 2 years, our numbers were not chosen. hmm...we never win anything one... :( shopping vouchers lah, u-papa lah, tickets lah... and even guessing oso guessed wrong. aiyo...

But like i said earlier, we got celebrity leh...a hmm...i give him B-list status lah. Cos me not too sure too...he's not that famous as Zoe Tay (the queen of Spore who for 'beautiful skin, she swallow'-oh yes! she does!) but he is everywhere-hosting quite a few tv programs and he is funny. VERY FUNNY one. Plus his name start with B too lah...so ok lah.

see...celebrity spotting: Bryan Wong.

ooo he got blog too...so check him out, click here.

Nah...you see...not bad right, I celebrated with the super-rich people and had picture taken with a celebrity some more. what more you want huh?

and to top it off, we got snapped with the CEO of the world's local bank. how about that?

CEO leh. dun play play hor...how many CEO u know huh?

shorts & shoes...

yup! that's the theme for the night: SHORTS & SHOES.

From "no need theme lah" to having one, from one venue to another, from inside to outside.

Our E, initially did not want another themed party but after the previous one, he decided do just the opposite for his very own. As previously, we attended the couture dress code-strictly no shorts or sandals-dinner, he thought his shall be just shorts & shoes. so smart hor him hmm...

We celebrated E's 31 in a seat down banquet style dinner. It's the first time we dined at this venue as the 1st choice was fully booked, 2nd was really 'bida' as they effed up the arrangements - from having karaoke to "sorry sir, cannot cos someone else need it"; from upstairs to downstairs -"cos a customer decided to book the whole floor"; then 2 days before:"we have to move you outside with partition cos we have a bigger booking who requested the room".
* the second venue is the one with the 'flower' and begins with I.

Luckily J recommended the 3rd venue and it's available.

It was a rather a big space. see...enuf for some full-on dancing (which we obviously did later ala toxic style)

We had most food served ala chinese banquet style: cold dishes, shark fin soup...and long-life noodle (as it's a bday) plus desserts.
and ooo we even had the herbal life spokesperson tat night on the table...wahsei...so thin leh... wah...look like a little boy...wah it works leh...

Most of us wore shorts; one with hot pants with boots, one came in his gym attire, one miss-understood and wore a short dress hehe!

Followed by karaoke: from sammi to sandy to sheila to peter pan.

followed on with dancing & camwhoring

followed on by loads of boozing trying to get E to puke from round the table -

to round the corner - to outside the lobby...the boy just kept running and passing the drinks round.

followed by find his pressies from us.

Not much of a surprise cos he knew what he will be getting? why? he hint asked us to get him this. (time for me to update my wishlist soon haha)

luggageplus a top-up pressie from agar2 & Ju - ion free hair dryer (so the next time E, when we travel together, the hairdryer better be in the luggage hor)

followed by blowing the candle & more camwhoring...
more dancing, karaoke-ing, forcing drinks down E's throat (1 bottle of swing, 1 vodka, 2 asahis, more beers, 1 elize). if my out of tune singing cos anyone suffering that night, well...tough! haha! next time pull the mic from me lah ok!

it was a fun night and i think we stayed till almost 1am.
I think we ended the night with Elim giving us his half-tipsy rendition of sammi medley.

Madonna 並未像我吧, Emily 並未像你吧, Bidarlah 並未像我吧, It’s Mi 無關其他迷人娃娃

Hope you had a great time, Elim! Thanks for dinner.

Intimate stylo...

Received an invitation via text last week for an intimate dinner to celebrate his 30 sumthing.

Our theme for the night was "'fashion comes and go but style is forever " as i posted earlier. Such a copycat i say haha! stealing someone famous quote or watched too much E!. Well... since its YSL's quote, i put on my one and only ysl tee for the do. It was a nice quiet affair compared to last year's 70s bash. Just like how the doc planned (i guessed) - just close friends: Me, Z, E, Jw & B.
It maybe low in head-count but the noise levels after 3 bottles of champagne (moet, vintage moet, & krug), 1 red, 6 beers, and 1 elize, i tell you...even outside the restaurant can hear y'all. Mou sai ye tai lah...calling yourself a sophisticated, well cultured bunch hor...hahahahahaha!!!!

ok let's start...see see the upcoming BiG magazine cover...

a
