I for...

ok...i've been scratching my head for this one. why? there are no yoga poses that i know of that begins with the letter 'I'...except i-dunnoasasana.

A few of us been thinking what should I be? There's Inversions or Intense-side stretches, but somehow they are just too vague esp. Inversions as it's more like a category of various poses rather than a name of a pose. if u know wat i mean. anyway...

Yesterday I went to my first yoga class in over a week of non-practice as Guru D was away (enjoying her time in HK), and what was supposed to be a yinyang class became a flow class. I did wondered at the beginning...am i in the right class? Let me say, it was also a real effort; dunno why? maybe it's the lack of practice, maybe i'm stiff oledi. arghhh!!! breathe...

So asked Guru D & James: wat pose begins with I? hmm...* think think think*...no wor.

I wanted either of them to pose for me, but to wat? Then James suggested...

Inverted Prayer Pose

also known as Reverse Prayer Pose. So there and then: snapped! phew! U can actually see sweat stains on the back of his shirt as we just finished the class, so i had to blur create some dramatic effect haha!

Benefits: stretches your shoulders and elbows, besides increasing the flexibility. Avoid this pose if you have shoulder, arm or elbow problem.

H for ...

desperate time calls for hmm...recycling images.

yes! too much work on hand, thus no time to snap for my letter H.

So browsed through my archives (wah! sound like i hv loads of pics haha!), to see if i can reuse any pictures that look good and most importantly, begins with the letter 'H'. yes! H.

Honestly, i wanted to do Heron pose or Handstand or Headstand or Half-frog pose or even Hero pose but no time (excuses i hear you guys say...)

But look what i found...The event was posted previously, way back in February for a friend's birthday/beach event. And wat do you see besides sand, sea, and rubbish at the beach? Hut of course!

H for Huti'm not sure which one to post, and i kinda like all the images; so i just upload all of my favs. Are they worthy of entering the 'not small' competition?

this is somehow one of my fav, dunno why? maybe its the loneliness or emptiness of the space? maybe it's the lighting? maybe it's just me?

and guess wat...no names shall be mentioned here, hmm...just say bryanboy wannabe practicing showing off his 'Headstand'. so still i managed to post a yoga pose, phew!!!

G is for Gate Pose. another easy everyone do pose.

benefits for doing so : Stretches the sides of the torso and spine | Stretches the hamstrings | Opens the shoulders | Stimulates abdominal organs and lungs

F for...

as i hurt my wrist over the weekend, i can't really do much yoga; so i got myself a model.

F is for Fish & yes! we have Fish pose. Now this pose anyone can do rite!

I particularly like the reflection of the floor tiles. It's no photoshop yo! Even the color. Wat you see is wat i snapped with my camera. Well, except the watermark of course.

The benefits for eating fish everyone knows and they are yummy! But do you know what's the benefits for doing the fish pose? well, accordingly to yogajournal,
  • Stretches the deep hip flexors (psoas) and the muscles (intercostals) between the ribs
  • Stretches and stimulates the muscles of the belly and front of the neck
  • Stretches and stimulates the organs of the belly and throat
  • Strengthens the muscles of the upper back and back of the neck
  • Improves posture

E for...

there are so many things begins with E, and i'm sure 'egg' or 'elephant' comes to your mind too. Com'on. Admit it! Cos both of them springs into mine.

I tot of cracking an egg & snap the transparent white & the yellow yolk, but nah!

I tot of elephant, but where in brunei can i find one? then i start thinking of the less obvious Es like elbow, ego, empire, ej****, nah...

then Zar suggested the Eagle pose. hmm...why not?
Anyway, I wasn't sure which one to post so here's another one - actually 3-in-1.Ok, my pose is not perfect as you can see, my foot is supposed to hook onto the other leg. I can do it in class (i got witness yo!) but somehow argh...did not show in the picture-really annoying. Actually anyone can do this pose, try it. Like they say, practice makes perfect rite! breathe:::

Benefits of the Eagle pose aka Garudasana

  • Strengthens and stretches the ankles and calves
  • Stretches the thighs, hips, shoulders, and upper back
  • Improves concentration
  • Improves sense of balance
