What I did that night?

yes...to those who left messages asking what i will be doing on 2702?

well...as i posted previously, i celebrated my bday on Vday this year. But that does not mean no one else gonna celebrate with me on the very day.

I got some of the rich and famous people in this country to dine & party (using the word party loosely lah) with. No joke. And even got a Singaporean celebrity to host the night for me leh...Dun believe me...

ok ok...i dun have pictures to prove that i know ALLLL the people on that night - really people mountain people sea ya!. I only know a few familiar faces. spotted: ex-classmates, suppliers, consultants, hi-bye friends, cousins. Yes...all these people were there to celebrate my bday but the only thing is that they dont know about it. haha

fine fine...it was the world's local bank chinese new year dinner lah,

and also my annual trip to the ICC (what else to see or do there?)

So like last year, we head there and again we were late. Gosh! by the time we got there, the room was packed and most of the tables were seated. *arghhhh... of course, we being the 'cultured' ones, the 'got good manners' ones, the 'got class' ones dun go scolding or demanding to be seated straight away.

What happened? We got ushered from bank to front, left to right, back to left again, then finally found 3 seats for us. where?

here...
in the vegetarian table of all places...wat to do? better than standing right.

I tell you, no offense to all vegetarians out there...how the hell you guys eat 'mock' or fake or 'pretend to be' dishes? Maybe it was not well-prepared by the caterers lah. We had FAKE prawns, FAKE chicken, and the worse of the bunch: FAKE fish *yucks yuck*

Like past 2 years, our numbers were not chosen. hmm...we never win anything one... :( shopping vouchers lah, u-papa lah, tickets lah... and even guessing oso guessed wrong. aiyo...

But like i said earlier, we got celebrity leh...a hmm...i give him B-list status lah. Cos me not too sure too...he's not that famous as Zoe Tay (the queen of Spore who for 'beautiful skin, she swallow'-oh yes! she does!) but he is everywhere-hosting quite a few tv programs and he is funny. VERY FUNNY one. Plus his name start with B too lah...so ok lah.

see...celebrity spotting: Bryan Wong.

ooo he got blog too...so check him out, click here.

Nah...you see...not bad right, I celebrated with the super-rich people and had picture taken with a celebrity some more. what more you want huh?

and to top it off, we got snapped with the CEO of the world's local bank. how about that?

CEO leh. dun play play hor...how many CEO u know huh?

Chap Gor Mei...

yup...it's the 15th day of CNY oledi...time passed very quickly leh...good times...

so...today is the last day for all you gamblers to win win win win win....no more 2-4 or 3-6 loh... 5-10 hor why not huh? hahaha!!!

of course...like all chinese celebrations, we shall ALL feast...indulge...com'on!!! EAT DRINK EAT somemore...why not?

other than gambling & feast, today is also Chinese Valentine's Day. So single ladies go to the temple tonight or NOW, and maybe there's an off-chance you get to meet your dream man.

Or do what the Penang ladies does; toss tangerines into the sea, in a hope that their future spouse will pick it up. yup! that's right! ladies, if you got too many uneaten ones which you bought for CNY, bring them to Tutong beach or jerudong beach tonight... However, shout out to all singletons out there - may you all find your true love today or tonight or this year!!!

also today is known as Lantern Festival...

yup...if you want to re-create the pic above locally...head over to one of the local car-dealer showroom...;0 (pic)

sunday fun...

received an MMS from doc this morning, it read: spotted...

OMG! they printed a picture of moi playing balls.

yes! me shooting some balls into some small hoops on saturday afternoon at one of the local mall. goodness...

nah...tat's the tiny hoops you got to aim into. tips: all you need to do is throw the balls softly, do not use any force. easy does it. and ooo...throw the balls upwards, gently and aim for the low hoops...DO NOT try to aim the high high one and show off...

I won myself a meal voucher...nice! from one of the local chicken restaurant...not bad leh...and dun be fool by the background...ie...all the countries destinations...U win only meal vouchers hor...but hei...not bad wah...cos ALL me, J, E & M did was show our credit cards and we all get to play and plus get 2 chances for a lucky draw to win ticket to KL or travel vouchers.

as it's a 2 day roadshow by the world's local bank, and me being a kiasu haha...hei...if they are giving, try your luck and see loh...right! plus i got nothing to lose wah...

so me, J and E met up there to play again...and this time, the crowd was massive...cos they had other games going on. blah di blah...all i wanted was to get 2 more chances to win...try lah and also get reward points.

speaking of points, well done to J for winning 1000 points ...damn...and all i got was 200 hmm...well..ok ok lah...i'm happy...it's free anyway...right...better than not getting anything.

post that, we left for open house, cos i was damn hungry...and saw some lion dance...

i have seen lion dances in my life...but i have not seen one like this...the host make the 2 'lions' to drink...i think 9 or 10 cans of beer and finish off with 2 glasses of red wine before peeling off all the mandarins. mine mine...

it's fun tho' cos the 'lions' after 3 or 4 cans later...walked around or moved around 'drunkenly'. cool huh...
sitting down drinking some beer...cute huh...

and off for some mahjong sessions...wat else leh...

faces are cropped off to protect the Mahjong addicts haha!!!...

and around 7-ish...got a call from Z that hmm...I WON the KL travel package for 2 from the lucky draw...OMG. wah!!! to be honest, i so did not expect this leh...

once again...

A big big thank Q to HSBC...so are u guys gonna call me kah? if yes, i think i'm ready for the 'ahh', 'wat', 'me?' moments leh...

Hokkien New Year...

Yes guys! We have Chinese New Year and we have Hokkien New Year. It's today ie. 9th day of the Lunar calendar. Only found out this morning as i was greeted by my colleagues. yup...all my life i did not know that today is a celebration within a celebration. wow!

So if you all my hokkien readers: Kiong Hee Kiong Hee

Loads of local & Hokkiens everywhere pai Tee Kong last night to mark the event and know we all know why we do that huh.

story behind it: source

...this day is particularly significant to Hokkien Chinese: on the ninth day of the New Year (it is said), the enemies of the Hokkien tribe banded together to wipe the Hokkiens from the face of the earth. As a horrible massacre ensued, a few survivors hid in a field of sugarcane. The heavens intervened, and the marauders left. Since then, Hokkiens have thanked the Jade Emperor for his intervention on the 9th day, making offerings of sugarcane stalks tied together with red ribbons.

So if you guys see sugarcane stalks outside chinese houses...signs of a hokkien family. (pic)

TA K, HUAT TUA CHAI.

ps. just wanna say a big big big Thank Q to all you fabulous guys & dolls for last night 'under the spotlight' and all the surprises-i'm loving them all. Hope you guys had fun.

CNY...the finale

Like MV said, all good things must come to an end. Today is the last day (15th day) of CNY and what I loved most about CNY? Well…besides the food, visiting friends, gambling for fun, it’s collecting ang pows. Yes! Those red packets or gold packets filled with cash (preferably contained red or golden color rather than those blue or green ones, i say). However, as years go by, as one gets older; the number of those packets suddenly becoming less and less. WHY? WHY?

This year the number of angpows i received: 12 (will count the $$$ later)

Every banks, department stores, and even car company give out free angpows for customers to hand out to friends and relatives. Everyone trying to out do one another, trying to come up with a different design.

Open houses count: 5 ( i think)

To celebrate the Chap Go Meh (literally 15th Night) of CNY, we would all gathered in my grandma's house to feast just like reunion dinner every year. However, for some reason, this year we do lunch instead. I dun mind as long as it's yummy grandma's home-cooked feast. Again forgot to take any pics. dun need to ask why?

This year is not a good year for me: car broke down on CNY day 1- now still in the garage, lost $$$ in most of the gambling sessions: Mahjong or 3 kings. why why why?

I'm so so so full now, cos had a dinner feast in my other grandma's house. So much to eat, so little time. haha!

CNY fire & more...

i got to admit, i hv been kinda lazy (i know mr vanity would agreed tremendously) thus the lack of postings for the past few days. I hv drafted it but just can't get round publishing them so now i hv a backlog of posts. anyway let's continue...2nd day of CNY

A whole new day only brings more open houses. This time it’s @ our doctor parent’s crib. I (yes moi) caused fire – literally caused fire. No kidz! How? Well…it all started from food haha! no surprises here. I tell you: opening and closing buffet trays or covers are never a good thing nor a fun thing. Somehow when I slided the tray cover to open, I think it somehow tipped the candle under the tray and wa la! It’s not really my fault, or is it? Hmm…not one but 2 I think. Opps! Hei…everyone is fine. No one hurts. Phew!

Then off to Zar’s colleague’s house, where they had an open garden. Got to say, he had a rarely neatly trimmed & landscaped lawn. My mind started to wonder how would it be like to have my safari party here hmm….? Anyhow, saw a few other known faces and did the usual chatting & greeting, blah di blah till we decided to make a move.

Went back to my place for a quick rest. Dunno, maybe from the overindulgence, I felt tired. Ooo…showed Scarlot a few poses & prepped her for her 1st (I think) yoga class. I realized (actually I knew) I’m not a good teacher: I myself dun even know the name of the poses, nor I can fully get into the poses, and hmm…I forgot the sequences sometimes.

Ooo…got to mention this while I remember, we met our doctor lookalike @ Scarlot’s place the night before. And Scarlot next time when u ask stranger for a pic, can u please think of a reason beforehand or ask him more discreetly. It’s really awkward I’m telling you. Cos now everyone would think I asked for his pic for the wrong reason and u know our abode of peace ain’t that big, and u know how gossip spread. So if the person in question or his friends read bidarlah, please ASSURE him that the reason for this is to show our Dr Paris i.e. his 60% lookalike. And to rub it in, the photo doesn’t even do it any justice. Need a few more side shots haha!

again, all CNY pics are still in my camera, will upload when i get my act together...

My CNY so far...

It’s the 5th day of CNY and I’m back to work as off yesterday. I know most of you guys are still in Gong Xi Fa Cai mode as some of you took a week off. How nice? I do hope you guys & dolls are having fun and loads of food over the past few days so far. I myself had been hmm…let’s see wat hv I done.

Actually I wrote like an essay long post, and looking back at it, kinda long winding, so I will just summarize them for now otherwise you guys will zzzzzzzzz....

It all started from CNY eve

Like all families, reunion dinner is a MUST; not only for the mouth watering home-cooked feast but also family gatherings all under the same roof. Ok. I got to admit, I forgot to take any single picture cos my mind only thought of eating everything. Haha!

I dunno, maybe just me, CNY eve/reunion dinner in our family kinda lost it’s excitement over the years. Maybe some of my aunties did not come over as they are with their own families; maybe some of my cousins were not there, maybe as you get older you participate less with the young ones. I remember when I was young; CNY eve was a whole different thing.

Uncles & papa bought fireworks, kids went crazy, everyone was frantic, everyone took turns to sit round the big round table to eat as space was limited but tat was part of the atmosphere. Kids ate at different tables, parents at another one. We seemed to do loads of stuffs on that nite till past midnight. Now with everyone living in their own houses and families, the atmosphere is much more subdue, and the number of headcount seems to be low.

Back to 2007, post dinner and collected a few ang pows from aunties & uncles, all of us gathered round Jo’s place for a session. Yes! Gambling started, and I dun think I won.

1st day of CNY started off by:

Went to grandma’s for breakfast/lunch like every other year before heading off to house visits. Had a really really nice bowl of ‘mee suah’. It’s kinda like a must every year for us. I guessed eating mee suah represents something like long live and stuffs. All is good, cos it tasted yummy!

Off to pick up Zar, Elim & Oscar to Scarlot’s crib. This is where things went crazy. Long story short: my vintage car decided to break down on me, on this very day (yes of all days) argh!!! The gear would just not go to ‘P’. Damn! So had to rest my car in ‘N’ gear and pull on the brake. I tot to myself, maybe just temperamental.

Over at Scarlot’s. There was loads of food: halal & non-halal. Yes! Every year, Auntie Cindy would ask us if you want to try her non-halal servings: chicken wine soup & black vingered pork and like every year: we all said yes! How can u resist hmm…so after round one or 2 of halal food, we went to our separate section for non-halal food. After all that, come desserts hmm…blueberry cheesecakes, chocolate fondue, fruit tartlets and durian puffs. Yes! Durian puffs. Yummmmm!

I got to admit, I had loads and despite that, they automatically appeared again i.e. filled up. (will post pic soon)

Then off to Jinno’s bungalow, and this was when I felt my ‘vintage’ car not performing as normal so I quickly made a pit stop and hopped into doctor’s car as jinno’s place is quite a distance. More food, more ppl to see. Normally one would do a costume change but our dear old Oscar did a hair change haha! Yup! He washed his rather wet-looked-on the borderline-oily hair in J’s place.

Then off to Jenandy’s flat for a stopover before heading home for a quick rest. Jen had been asking and reminding us to visit cos she decorated her flat for this event. Well done! This only calls for a photo sessions haha! Yes! Poses after poses: in pairs & in group. Ooo...we singletons received angpows from them. Thank you very much! Yet to receive from Scarlot & Adam. (*hint hint)(will post pic soon)

Elim demonstrated to everyone how to make a phone call or rather, how to talk on the phone. (I presumed it’s his dear dear!)
